Current Patterns in the Australian Market
There are 2 major Lug angles in the Australian marketplace,
23-degree lug & 45-degree lug
This is something we will have to look at very carefully as both products have advantages over each other.
For the world market the 23-degree lug is better suited as it has been performing well in Europe and the USA for a number of years. Most products coming into Australia are currently running a 23-degree lug.
For the Australia market 45-degree lug has been outperforming the 23-degree lug in a lot of areas. Mainly due to our soil conditions .
With the 45-degree lug you get more lugs on the tyre which gives you less soil compaction and increased traction. Smoother ride at higher pressures.
Agriculture Season in Australia
There are 3 main Agriculture seasons in Australia, Seeding & sowing, Spraying and Harvesting. This graph shows each state harvest season. Which means that we need to make sure our stock ordering is right, or we can sit on dead stock for 6-9 months.
Australia`s soil conditions
Australia has one of the most diverse soil conditions in the world, From the sandy soil in Western Australia to the Black soil in far North Queensland.
Original equipment player in the Australian market
O/E Market
In the Australian original equipment marketplace, there are 4 main players. Harvest Tyres being the biggest with close to 65% of this market share. Titan main focus in this area is being able to supply wheel and tyre packages to O/E builders. Which has given them their own niche market.
Warranties offered in the Australian marketplace
Australian farmers are looking for a tyre that the manufacturer will stand behind in the Australian marketplace. This is due to a lot of wholesalers not standing by their product when things go wrong. The average life span for an Agricultural tyre in Australia is between 5 to 7 years depending on climate and seasonal change. This also helps when planning new builds, We can look at the number of new machines that have been brought into Australia each year and plan a 5 year build around them.

IF & VF Agricultural Tyres
Definitions
IF is abbreviation for Increased Flexion. Tire can carry 20% more load than standard tire at same air pressure.
VF is the abbreviation for Very High Flexion. Tire can carry 40% more load than standard tire at same air pressure.
Example
In other words, if you are hypothetically carrying 10,000 lbs. at 100 PSI:
IF tire will carry same 10,000 lbs. as standard tire, at approximately 20% less air pressure or 80 PSI.
VF tire will carry same 10,000 lbs. as standard tire, at approximately 40% less air pressure or 60 PSI.
Keeping in mind PSI is pounds per square inch being transmitted thru tire to the ground, the pressure reduction is dramatic.
How
So, why can an IF or VF tire carry same load with less air pressure? Answer is highly technical sidewalls are designed to carry some of the load, whereas standard radial tires carry entire load with air pressure.
Benefits
What are other benefits of running IF VF lower air pressure tires? Larger footprint. Imagine what your car tire would look like of you took air pressure down 40% from 35 psi to 21 psi….the contact patch or footprint would grow dramatically. What’s bad for car tires (low air pressure) is good for Ag tires.
Larger footprint created from lower air pressures also provides:
Better traction with more pulling lugs on the ground
Reduced fuel consumption with less slip.
Better flotation with larger contact patch.
In sum, lower inflation pressure in the world of Ag tires can create a huge host of benefits!

Background
AgQuip field days, have been running since 1973 and is located on a permanent, purpose-built site, eight kilometres west of Gunnedah, New South Wales. The event attracts over 100,000 visitors each year, over the three-day period.
Showcasing over 3,000 products and services aimed at farming professionals, the event provides an excellent opportunity for businesses to promote their brand, generate sales and connect with their customers.
