SUNDOM has been dedicated to engineering tires for 16 years. During these 16 years, we have continuously
attempted to improve, aiming to meet customer needs. We have constantly adjusted the tire formula, enhanced the tire quality, and consistently provided customers with the best quality and most suitable price under the current market technology conditions. The E-3/L-3 tread pattern is the most popular and in-demand tread pattern among construction machinery tires. Treads such as 23.5-25, 20.5-25, 17.5-35, etc. are included. So today, SUNDOM will introduce our E-3/L-3 tread pattern to everyone.
I. Model password: Understand the identity identification of E-3/L-3
For industry professionals, the string of characters "E-3/L-3" is by no means a dull code; rather, it is a precise performance specification. Within the international TRA standard system for construction machinery tires, this set of codes defines a category of tires specifically designed for loaders and rigid dump trucks. The letter "E" stands for "Earthmover" (earth-moving machinery), "L" stands for "Loader" (loading machine), and the number "3" indicates the deep tread pattern - this is a design choice made to provide better grip and longer service life in harsh operating conditions.
These types of tires usually adopt a bias structure, with high-strength nylon cord forming a sturdy tire body framework, enabling them to maintain a stable shape under heavy loads. For instance, at the 23.5-25 specification, their cross-section width can reach up to 595mm, the outer diameter exceeds 1.6 meters, and when the inflation pressure reaches 475 kpa, their load-bearing capacity can reach as high as 13.6 tons.
II. The Wisdom of Patterns: The Art of Balancing Grip and Self-Cleaning
The E-3/L-3 model is divided into two types: Water Ripple Pattern, Dragon Palace Pattern.
As the names suggest, the water ripple pattern is a horizontal wave-like pattern, while the dragon palace pattern is a block-like pattern.
Design concept: The water ripple pattern focuses more on self-cleaning properties, resistance to cutting, and puncture resistance. The Dragon Palace pattern emphasizes greater grip and anti-slip properties.
Performance emphasis: The water ripple pattern has sufficient traction and can easily shake off dirt and stones, and is not easily cut by sharp objects; the Dragon Palace pattern sacrifices some self-cleaning and cutting resistance to enhance starting and braking performance in extremely slippery and soft conditions.
Application scenarios: The water ripple pattern is widely used in general construction machinery scenarios (such as ordinary earthwork, sand and gravel roads); the Dragon Palace pattern is more common in mining vehicles and loaders, challenging harsher environments such as crushed stones and muddy conditions.
III. Inner cultivation: Dual guarantees of resistance to cutting and durability
To address the sharp edges of the crushed rocks during mining, this tire adopts a specially formulated tread compound. By optimizing the rubber components, it enhances the resistance to cutting and puncturing. Additionally, to address the heat generation issue caused by the deep patterns, the designers sought a balance between the base rubber thickness and the area of the tread grooves. Although a deeper base rubber can improve the cutting resistance, it will lead to heat accumulation and increase the risk of tread delamination. Therefore, the groove bottom and shoulder designs of Sundom tires are often optimized through finite element analysis to ensure a controllable temperature rise performance during heavy-load and high-speed driving.
