1. Mixing: Making the "Dough"
Natural rubber, synthetic rubber, carbon black, and various chemical additives are fed into a giant internal mixer. This produces a specific "compound" tailored for performance. All raw materials undergo strict quality control before entering production.
2. Component Preparation: Preparing the "Layers"
The compound is processed into individual tire components:
· Extrusion/Calendering: Produces the tread and sidewall, or coats fabric cords (nylon/polyester) with rubber to make "fabric plies" (carcass).
· Bead Building: High-strength steel wire is coated with rubber and wound into a bead bundle, ensuring the tire fits tightly on the rim.
3. Building: Assembling the "Green Tire"
On a building machine, all semi-finished components — including plies, sidewalls, beads, and tread — are precisely placed according to the design. At this stage, the product is called a "green tire" and already looks like a tire.
4. Curing/Vulcanization: Like "Steaming the Bun"
This is the most critical step for tire performance. The green tire is placed inside a mold and heated under high pressure and temperature. The rubber molecules undergo a cross-linking reaction (vulcanization), becoming strong and durable. Simultaneously, the mold imprints the tread pattern onto the tread and markings onto the sidewall.
5. Final Inspection: Rigorous Quality Control ✅
Every finished tire must pass multiple stringent tests before leaving the factory:
· Uniformity & Balance Testing: Ensures smooth driving.
· X-ray Inspection: Checks the internal structure for hidden defects like voids or misplaced steel cords.
